Degusta Box Review 2014

 Degusta Box

Nothing cheers me up better than a parcel delivery in the morning. Beats bills any day!
When the parcels contents are a surprise it just adds to that excitement... and when the contents is surprise food? Well can a morning get any better?

In recent years subscription boxes have soared, with new brands popping up here, there and everywhere! From beauty boxes to cocktail mixing boxes, but the foodie ones are my fave.
I'm quite adventurous with food and love to explore new brands. After approaching Degusta*, I was sent Septembers box to share my thoughts on.

Every month they send out food & drink boxes, varied with well known and newly established products. Each filled with between 9-14 full sized products.
What I love most about Degusta is the price! £12.99 per month which also includes delivery. You are always getting value for the price while paying less than you would in the shops. With no commitment as you can cancel before the 10th of each month.

The parcel was quite big and very well wrapped to prevent smashing or spillage. I could not wait to open it!

Burts Lentil Waves

Burts Lentil Waves £2.07
I was pleasantly surprised by these waves, on first look I thought they may be bland but each bag had a lovely flavouring. They were super crunchy and more satisfying than average crisps. While also being healthier. My daughter also gave these a thumbs up. The lightly salted were the best plain crisps I have tasted, with just the right amount of seasoning. The Sour Cream also went down well, with Thai Sweet Chilli being my fave of the bunch. They're simply perfect and I can't wait to pick up more of these.

Little Miracles Drink

Little Miracles £1.59 per bottle
Having tried and loving these before I was pleased with their appearance in the box. With 2 different flavours, Lemon Grass Tea & Green Tea.
Lovely and refreshing with no funny after taste. They both go down really well and taste sweet without being sickly. They are one of my favourite drinks to pick up on the go.

Crabbies Fruit Drinks
Crabbies Alcoholic and non Alcoholic option £1.50 per bottle
I loved trying these and put them in the fridge to chill before serving for the best experience.
The Raspberry &Rhubarb drink went down a treat, having never tried a Rhubarb drink before I was impressed and would rebuy this. The Rasberry and Ginger had a nice flavour but I wouldn't personally rebuy this one because it wasn't to my taste. I think it was great that 2 flavours were included as this gave me a better impression of the Crabbies.

La Vieja Fabrica Marmalade
 La Vieja Fabrica Marmalade £1.59
This is the first time I have tried an orange marmalade. I was very eager to spread this on my toast and see what my taste buds thought. However this was the one item in the whole box I disliked. I found the marmalade tasted very harsh and wasn't to my taste at all.
Luckily my Mum enjoys this so it didn't go to waste.

Pick Up Chocolate

Bahlsen Pick Up! £1.69 per pack & Elizabeth Shaw Dark Chocolate Mint thins £2.50
What would a food box be without a chocolatey treat?
I have tried the milk chocolate Pick Ups before and have since re bought them. These have become a firm favourite of mine! If you like biscuits then I urge you to try them. The Black 'n Whites were new to me but also very impressed.

When I saw the Elizabeth Shaw Chocolates I winced at the sign of Dark chocolate. I have never been a fan of it, but since I was reviewing, thought it was only right to give them a try. These were absolutely lovely! The mint really distracted from the dark chocolate and I actually really enjoyed them.

Carnation Cook With It

Carnation Cook with it £1.65 per pack
A light cooking creme which can be used in a wide variety of recipes.
I have not tried this yet as I had meal plans through the week. Luckily it is not short dated and I intend to make a quiche from one and a pasta with the other. I can see how these could be a great staple to have in your cupboard for easy healthy meals.

Jordans Simply Granola

Jordans Simply Granola £2.69
Crunchy baked oats with a hint of honey. I am a huge breakfast person, I can't function right without it. So I thoroughly enjoyed trying this granola. Within a few days the bag was empty because I ate it every following morning. I will re buy it as it was really tasty.

There you have it! Over £20 worth of products for just £12.99.
My first Degusta Box experience was a complete pleasure and I'm happy to give it the thumbs up. I thought the addition of vouchers and recipes to go with the products was also a fantastic touch.
